Weekly Set Review: Pirate Code

Postby architect on Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:03 pm

Join the weekly Forbidden Cove set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our broadside of critique and which ones sink in shame!

This week’s set is 3840 Pirate Code.

The Pirate Code Board Game was released in 2009 in Europe. The set contains a skeleton with old arms, a large quantity of both gems and jumper plates, and a few nice tiles. Read the rest of the article here

Reading the review really makes me want to buy one of these. That big chest, and boatload of gems really makes it very appealing.

The other little odds and ends make this a very desirable set. Why int he seven seas didn't TLC make this avialable to the whole world (That was a retorical question, so don't answer that.)

I also own this set and would recommend it to other fans. It has a great selection of elements. The wide array of jewels is great for any pirate hoard. Plus the game is fun for kids. Once it is available outside of Europe, I hope more fans will check it out.

It has an old skeleton, that counts volumes in my book. And I am vaguely familiar with this game's inspiration. Seems alright to me.

So is this the only set with that huge treasure chest? I don't think I've ever seen it before.
I have plans for the future, guess they're futuristic plans...

This treasure chest element was first found in Fabuland sets and later in Belville sets. Lately it has been available in trans colors:

It is interesting that this treasure chest predates the Castle treasure chest element by four years.
